This year marks the 136th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, the racist law restricting immigration from China to the U.S. After over a century of merciless racism against Chinese people, suddenly the idea emerged of the Chinese community as the “model minority,” attempting to hide a shameful history of the brutality Chinese immigrants have suffered.

Join us for analysis and discussion of this important history, and learn about the contributions of Chinese workers and their struggle to win equality.
