San Francisco Women in Struggle Film Showing- "Norma Rae"
Norma Rae works long hours in horrible working conditions for little pay at a local textile mill in North Carolina. Inspired by a visiting union organizer, Norma Rae is determined to organize her co-workers at the factory to improve working conditions. Based on the true story of Crystal Lee Sutton, this 1979 film shows how women and all workers can win when organized.
In the wake of the recent #MeToo movement, we must increase the momentum and continue to organize for our rights. Following this year’s Women’s March, we invite you to watch this historic film and discuss how we can continue the fight for women’s rights.
