March with the PSL in DC's LGBTQ Pride Parade!

June 11, 2016 at 3:45pm - 7:45pm

March with the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and friends in D.C.'s 2016 Capital Pride Parade on Saturday, June 11.

Pride has its origins in the militant and fighting LGBTQ movement of the 1960s and 1970s, as thousands of LGBTQ people poured into the streets demanding their rights. Now, almost a year after the huge win for same-sex marriage, we are celebrating the victories and progress made by the LGBTQ movement as we continue to stand against backlash in the form of laws like HB2 in North Carolina that essentially legalize discrimination and against all manifestations of anti-LGBTQ bigotry that still exist throughout society, which includes a growing number of murders of trans women of color.

We will be marching with progressive banners and signs, play music and have political chants throughout the parade. All who agree with this message are welcome to join us!

Here are updated details for the parade:
- Our contingent is Purple 300
- Meet us on 22nd St. between Newport Place and O St. NW at 3:45 p.m.
- The parade begins at 4:30 p.m. from 21st and P Sts. NW (we will start to march sometime after that)
- The parade travels 1.5 miles and ends at 7:30pm at 14th and R Sts. NW

For more information about participating, please email [email protected].

UPDATES

You should look at this map of the staging area to make sure you know where to go:

http://www.capitalpride.org/wp-content/uploads/Capital-Pride-Staging-Map-2016.pdf
***Look for where it says "Entry Purple 300's" and then follow the arrows and you will see the block we are describing as our location.

Please note that Metro now has even more substantial delays than in the past. Please check out their notice about weekend service and make sure you give yourself enough time.

***This closest Metro station is the 19th/Connecticut exit from the Dupont Circle Metro on the Red Line (which is not pictured on the map of the staging area). You can also exit the Dupont Metro on Q St., and we are not much farther from the Foggy Bottom-GWU stop on the Blue/Orange/Silver lines.
