Join PSL Pittsburgh in celebrating the legacy of the Bolshevik Revolution, the first revolution in history where poor and working class people took state power and created a government of, by and for the people!

We will be screening Tsar to Lenin, a documentary about the Bolshevik Revolution. After the film, a short presentation that explores the continuing relevance of the Bolshevik Revolution in the 21st century followed by a Q&A session.

In the age of Trump and disaster capitalism, hope for revolution can seem dim. Films like Tsar to Lenin show us that revolutions are possible under the worst conditions imaginable.

Thousands upon thousands of people were involved in confronting tsarist autocracy, police repression and horrifying prison conditions. Ultimately, their struggles and sacrifices led to the creation of the world's first socialist state.

In a matter of decades, one of Europe's least developed economies became a leading world power through public ownership of the economy and central planning. The standard of living was raised for millions of people through mas literacy campaigns, an expansive public healthcare system and the construction of vast public housing blocks.

Though imperfect, the legacy of the Soviet Union remains an inspiration for poor, working and oppressed peoples around the world. The hope enshrined in the success of the Bolshevik Revolution lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of people around the world.

This event is free and open to the public. Donations are gladly accepted.
