In 1961, tens of thousands of Cuban youth mobilized to end illiteracy in the country. Inspired by the revolution that had just won power, they achieved their goal - in only one year! Come hear the amazing story from Luisa Campos, director of the Museum of the Literacy Campaign in Havana, Cuba who is on a speaking tour of the United States.
Campos has served as the museum's director since 1996. She played a key role in the successful implementation of the Yo Si Puedo method, which was developed by the literacy campaign, in Nayarit and Guerrero, Mexico. In addition to this groundbreaking educational work, Campos will be discussing pressing current issues in Cuba.
