Housing is a Right - Past and Present
From the Lower East Side to the South Bronx, all across New York City poor and working people have fought to defend their right to housing. New York City has a long history of tenants organizing for affordable, safe, and quality housing in a city that is becoming more and more of a playground for the rich. Gentrification has spread across the city displacing Black and Brown residents in Brooklyn, Harlem, and most recently, the Bronx. We are humbled to have powerful guest speakers at Liberation School to provide their expertise in the housing struggles from the past and present.
Pilar Maschi from The Bronx is not for Sale will also join us to share about the anti-gentrification organizing happening in the Bronx. To solve the housing crisis, we need a movement that will fight back. Join us as we learn about the legacy of the housing fight back movement in NYC.
