Join us for two eyewitness reports from the front lines of struggle against capitalist plunder and displacement.
Abby Martin and Mike Prysner, producer of the Empire Files, were denied entry into the Gaza Strip last week by Israelis authorities who claimed they were working for an "enemy state." Afraid that the journalists would expose their genocidal policies, the Israeli state barred them entry. Mike Prysner spent two weeks travelling the West Bank, staying in refugee camps and occupied areas, getting a first-hand account of life under Israeli military occupation. He visited several villages that were the site of increasing house demolitions by Israeli forces, and interviewed many victims of horrific, state-sanctioned violence by Israeli settlers. Prysner will speak on the urgent situation of conquest and ethnic cleansing, the ongoing resistance of the Palestinian people and the need for international solidarity.
For our second presentation, Native leader Norm Clement who has just returned from Standing Rock will report on the heroic struggle by the Sioux and other Indigenous nations to defend their land and water against the ongoing theft and corporate exploitation. Thousands of Native activists from some 200 different nations have joined together in North Dakota to resist the construction of an oil pipeline through their land. Entry Transfer Partners' $3.7 billion pipeline threatens to cut through Native burial grounds and the Missouri River, the source of many communities' water. The governor has called in the National Guard and private security who harassed and attacked the peaceful protesters.
Plus a tribute to revolutionary Rastafari singer Peter Tosh on the 29th anniversary of his assassination.
