For over 2 decades, the New Haven community has been fighting for a real all-civilian review board to oversee the NHPD and hold it accountable. Sparked by the brutal 1997 murder of Malik Jones and put into motion by his mother, Emma Jones, the New Haven civilian review board struggle has been a crucial part of local work against police violence.
