Support the Mission Liberation Center

MissionLiberationCenter.jpgThe Mission Liberation Center is a new working-class community center at 2969 Mission Street between 25th and 26th Streets. Staffed by volunteers from the San Francisco-Bay Area branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, the Center will be a community organizing hub that brings workers and oppressed people together to struggle around the most crucial issues that we face — from racist police terror, never-ending wars, and skyrocketing rents that push us out of our neighborhoods, to poverty wages, union-busting, and exploitation on the job.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We are teachers, students, healthcare workers, parents, artists, local residents, labor organizers, community organizers and so much more. We are intergenerational, multinational, multi-gendered working-class people seeking to build power from the bottom up to fight for a society that meets the needs of working people.

We believe in studying and analyzing the history of movements past and present in order to understand the nature of the system we live under so we can change it. We take part in and lead community struggles that affect our neighbors, from the struggle against gentrification and police brutality to the struggle against U.S. imperialism. We work with our community to build power in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and in the streets, and the Mission Liberation Center will be an organizing space to work towards transforming society into one for the many, not the few.

We're not kept afloat by government grants or corporate sponsors. We're funded largely by individual donations from working people who want to fight and who support the programs and organizing necessary for our liberation. Your donations will contribute to the materials and labor necessary to get the Mission Liberation Center up and running to continue the fight for a better future.

Here’s an idea of how your donations can support (with rough estimates):

$5 = 1 box of pens to stock up on our supplies

$10 = 2 packages of posterboard for placard-making

$25 = up to 5 books to fill our bookcases

$50 = 2 cans of interior paint to repaint the walls

$75 = toys and books for a kids' area

$100 = a bookcase for our community library

$150 = a couch; a set of chairs; and/or an area rug

$250 = signage throughout the center

$300 = WiFi extenders in order to provide WiFi for our guests and Center staff

$400 = sound treatment paneling for video and podcast recording

$500 = new lighting and related electrical wiring; patching holes and other damage; and/or significant contribution towards our upgraded entry ramp!

With rising inflation and the ballooning housing crisis, neither of which have been appropriately addressed by local or national governments, the past few years have demonstrated that we not only need real change but a total overhaul of the current system. We need independent organizing spaces that can speak to the needs and well being of the people - and organize for them! Please consider donating to and sharing this fundraiser to support the opening of the Mission Liberation Center. The history of social movements has shown us that where there is oppression, there is resistance - but we only get what we’re organized to take!
