The U.S. corporate media, Democrats, and Republicans have consistently promoted so-called free trade policies as beneficial to the people of the United States. But who do these policies actually benefit? NAFTA is one example where despite the corporate press propaganda claiming benefits for U.S. and Mexican workers it actually created a huge, desperate labor pool in Mexico by destroying the livelihoods of millions of Mexican farmers while also shipping away factory jobs that once helped the average U.S. worker make ends meet. The only people who have benefitted from this and many other free trade policies are the rich billionaire class.
