Liberation Flicks is proud to present this month "United in Anger: A History of ACT UP." 

During the 1980s, HIV/AIDS was an epidemic in New York City, across the country and the world. Because it disproportionately affected the marginalized and oppressed LGBTQ community, it was completely ignored by the political establishment and demonized in the media despite the hundreds of thousands dying without treatment. 

After watching friends, partners, and family die as a result of AIDS; activists, organizers, and neighbors in the LGBTQ community began ACT UP (AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power). ACT UP's militant direct action, education, and organizing remains an inspiration for a variety of social movements today.

"United in Anger" tells their story through the eyes of those who were there fighting to bring attention to AIDS, and increase access to life-saving medication. With the horrific tragedy in Orlando fresh on our minds, "United in Anger" reminds us of how the LGBTQ community and its allies have always come together against all odds to fight back!
