LA - Black & Queer Women: Leaders in the Struggle
Featured Guest: King of Black Lives Matter will discuss ongoing developments in the current movement.
Throughout the history of the Black liberation struggle from the Underground Railroad to Ferguson and beyond it has been Black women and queer women at the forefront of the fight. Their steadfast leadership is often overlooked in the mainstream version of history that attempts to canonize a small handful of men as the central figures of these movements. As Jeff Sessions assumes office and Trump's team hopes to place another proto-fascist into the Supreme Court it is clear that they plan to turn back the tide on more than half a century of hard fought gains by the Civil Rights revolution. Now is a critical time to unearth the history of the movement and use those lessons to continue the fight. Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation for an in-depth analysis and discussion of the role of Black women and queer women in the history of Black liberation.
