DC: Who do Clinton and the Democratic Party represent? A discussion for progressive voters about the November election

July 15, 2016 at 7:00pm - 10pm

This week’s PSL Community Forum will feature:

  • Presentation by Eugene Puryear, organizer with Stop Police Terror Project - D.C. and vice presidential candidate of the PSL

  • Screening of “Business-Backed Clinton Favors ‘Death, Destruction’” — an exposé of Hillary Clinton from The Empire Files

The chilling, uninterrupted murderous campaign of police departments against Black people nationwide has once again rocked the conscience of the country. Just last week, video captured the police murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, just two of the lives claimed by police that week. Protests of thousands again erupted across the country, and have been met with increasing police repression.

The Democratic Party has maintained the same tired position that we need more dialogue and understanding. Hillary Clinton — who has now been officially endorsed by Bernie Sanders — has essentially said nothing serious to condemn racist policing or other state violence. She consistently holds herself above the people she claims to represent, belittling activists who are demanding justice and change — that is, when she isn’t outright silencing them and kicking them out of her events. Despite positing herself as the candidate of the Black community, her track record is one of destruction, from promoting mass incarceration to working to wipe out welfare.

Join us on Friday, July 15 to discuss what tactics and strategies can best advance the mass struggle against racist police terror, and how those who want to fight racism and for progressive change should respond to “lesser evil” politics and pressure to support Hillary Clinton.

Also, hear a report on the arrest and targeting of PSL presidential candidate Gloria La Riva, who was arrested while participating in a protest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
