Join us for a presentation and discussion about the new campaign "Billion Dollars for Baton Rouge". With five Exxon Mobil plants in Louisiana, Exxon Mobile generates many billions of dollars each year through the exploiting of natural resources and labor in places like Baton Rouge. There is a history of unsafe work conditions. Exxon has made some of its profit available to cities and activists with the People's Congress of Resistance have begun organizing to secure one billion dollars to meet the needs of the people including the building of a new hospital in north Baton Rouge. The racist environmental destruction by Exxon Mobil must end. The people of BR demand 1 billion dollars for people's needs and for clean-up of the environment.
Hear a presentation and update on the proposed Bayou Pipeline and what this could mean for the people of Southern Louisiana. We will also discuss the movement that has begun to organize against the pipeline citing environmental concerns from inevitable oil spills to global warming.
Lastly hear from an activist from Los Angeles, CA who has been participating in the immigrant rights movement. He will discuss the reasons behind the failure of the Democrat's government shutdown and what the people are doing to organize and secure full rights for all immigrants in the face of a March deadline for DACA set by President Trump.
