The corporate media’s been talking a lot about the Migrant Caravan – a caravan of refugees - these past few weeks.

But what the US media has mostly centered is Trump’s racist claims and the 5000+ troops he is sending to the border. What’s being largely ignored by the media is who these 7000+ asylum seekers are, or why they’re fleeing their countries in Central America and making a dangerous journey of 2000 miles in hopes of a life of dignity in the US. 

The Caravanistas are fleeing right-wing violence, poverty, and state repression, all of which are conditions created by US imperialism in Latin America. The United States has militarily intervened in Latin America 56 times over the past century.
