This book is comprised of two documents written by the Party for Socialism and Liberation. The first, “The Program of the Party for Socialism and Liberation,” was adopted by the First Congress of the PSL in February 2010. It is a political program that outlines what a workers’ government would do upon a revolutionary triumph in the United States.
The second, “Who We Are, What We Stand For” is the revised 2010 edition of a document adopted by the PSL in January 2005. It includes the PSL’s assessment of the current international and domestic situation and the need to build a revolutionary workers’ party in the United States.
Together, they outline the basic political and ideological positions of the PSL. Socialism and Liberation in the United States lays basis for a revolutionary Marxist fight against U.S. imperialism that imperils the lives and livelihoods of a majority of people in the United States and across the globe. This book envisions a socialist future built upon the wealth that presently is hoarded by a very few, based upon principles of workers’ democracy, cooperation, solidarity and sustainability.
Sections of the book assess the validity of Marxism and Leninism, the U.S. drive for global domination, the U.S. working class today and the need for a revolutionary party.
Socialism and Liberation in the United States is a handbook for understanding the world we live in, and how to bring about meaningful change based on the power of workers and oppressed people over the corporate elite and their system of exploitation.
